Noisebot

I have been on a clothes buying kick lately, getting rid of all my old clothes and buy all new stuff. This means new geeky shirts. I have been eying this beauty for some time and will finally order it within the next couple weeks now that I have some spare money. I recommend checking out all the awesome shirts over at noisebot.com for some great geek gear.

XKCD

XKCD

Out there where the series of tubes and the blogosphere meet, lies the greatest web comic of all time. It is known only as xkcd. I am finding it slightly discouraging that everyone I asks has never heard of it. As a loyal xkcd fan I am doing my duty to spread the word, so put simply, go check out xkcd.com and enjoy.

Zero Puncuation, Retro, and You

Its a little known fact that smart ass people with British accents make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. When said british accent is speaking about video games, well then I’m in love. That is why I love Yahtzee and his weekly video reviews of the games you love…and how he hates them. Enjoy.

Drugs Dealing on the DS

GTA: Chinatown Wars

News just hit the streets that the new Grand Theft Auto game, Chinatown Wars for the Nintendo DS, will feature a drug dealing mini-game.

Revealed in the latest Edge magazine, the drug-dealing feature lets you flog heroine, cocaine, weed, ecstasy, acid and downers. Selling the six type of drugs makes you a ton of in-game cash and help you gain experience of market conditions, says the mag.

I’m wasn’t planning to check out the game before and this hasn’t changed that, but I am sure gaming geeks will be throwing up the defenses preparing for the onslaught of news outlets and “outraged parents” saying that this is just another example that video games are bad.

Idiots Online

Mirror

Its no secret that I dislike stupid people. Though idiots who are just so amazingly stupid do make me smile. Yahoo answers is one of the best place to find these people. The funny thing is it could potentially be done with a webcam and the right settings, the fact this guy’s first thought was scan a mirror shows his stupidity.

Fracture Demo

I am over at my brother’s washing every piece of clothing I own. I showed up when my brother appeared to be playing the worst parts of Force Unleashed and I got to watch the dreaded “pull the star destroyer from the sky” part which didn’t look anything like the trailer. The storyline does look very interesting and I might have to check it out for purely that reason.

To the point, after that my brother tossed me his controller and told me to play the Fracture demo. It took me a bit to get used to the controls which by the end I still hadn’t mastered. The tutorial had a certain air of why am I doing this other then teach the player to shoot the guns. I often turned to my brother and asked why they were asking me to blow up a bunch of meaningless crates and shoot a rocket at a house just to watch it explode. I prefer the tutorials to at least pretend I am doing these things for a reason.

The ground changing abilities were by far my favorite thing. I would jump into the middle of a battlefield, realize how bad an idea that was, and look for nearby cover. When I didn’t find any, my brain clicked on and thought, “make some.” The beauty of that statement sells the game alone. I do recommend everyone check out the demo and I look forward to playing the full version.

I’m a PC

I was watching Leno last night, buying my time till Conan came on and waiting to see if the Pizza Hut delivery driver could complete the difficult challenge of finding my apartment in the basement when I saw a new Microsoft commercial. This one striked back at the Mac vs PC commercials and finally bought a bit of pride back to the brand loyalists that the Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld commercials stole.
